
2014 Discoveries
Dreadnoughtus schrani lived in temperate forests in what is now the south of South America during the Upper Cretaceous period, around 77 million years ago. This dinosaur weighed as much as a dozen African elephants or more than seven T. rexes. It was about 26 m long and a mass of 59.3 tons


Pelagornis sandersi is the largest flying bird yet discovered. At 6.4 m, the wingspan of this bird was about two times that of the Royal Albatross (Diomedea exulans), the largest living flying bird. It lived in what is now North America approximately 28 million years ago.
